Racey little mite

imageOur son Austin Davies is having a cracking season so far in junior ski racing. Alongside his school mates (some of whom are club members) they are twice weekly training in the fridge up at Silverdale with a race programme with their Czech coach “Franken skier”. Last year in the E2 Mapei he achieved silver and his medal haul for 07 is proving impressive to date.
Early in the season Austin achieved 2 bronze and one silver with the Northern Snow Sports indoor GS junior races. Last school holidays Austin again achieved a silver at Mapei in Treble Cone E2 this year with GS and then at Junior Rossignol races another silver for 9-10 year olds and weekend just gone achieved a consistent 1st in three GS races to achieve Gold medal for E2 in the first of two GS race days for the K Cup at Ruapehu. Success in the SL (slalom) is proving a little more elusive. Naturally we are very proud. The younger brother Bryn has had his skiing aspirations put on hold with a broken collar bone thanks to being taken out by a boarder on TC back in July.

That is fabulous Austin, great to see some young blood coming through.  Don’t forget the Rangatira Junior Club races are at Turoa 6 October. Trish Oosterbaan Club Captain
