Email Phishing
Many club members have been receiving emails purporting to be from Jane Wimsett and asking for an urgent loan because the sender is stuck overseas. These emails are obviously not from Jane, and you should mark them as spam and delete them.
Please be assured that this security breach has not affected the club website and your booking and membership details remain secure.

2011/12 Summer Bookings
Turoa Lodge is available to members over the Summer, at $18/night self-catering. The guest rate is $24.
To make a booking please contact Jenny Newlove (Booking Officer) by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or phone as the booking system is only for winter bookings. Jenny will be checking for messages, but do allow 2-3 days.

2011 Season Closing Dates
The Turoa (Ohakune) lodge will now close on October 24th (i.e. last booking night is October 23rd). This is because the custodians are leaving on this date. As previously advised, Iwikau lodge is also closing on this date.
Members are welcome to stay at Turoa lodge from October 24th onwards on a self-catering basis. Please contact the booking officer for details.

New Server
The club website has been moved to a New Zealand based server (it was previously served form the USA). This move should make the website run noticeably faster for most users and may also assist with search engine rankings.
For the technically minded, the site is being hosted on a VPS provided by New Zealand owned company Rimu Hosting.

Obituary - Terry Radonich
Long term Rangatira member Terry Radonich passed away suddenly and unexpectedly aged 58yrs on the 2nd of September 2011.
Terry had been a member of Rangatira since the early seventies and was a volunteer ski patroller on the mountain in the days before it became a paid professional position. He was also one of the infamous “Harbour Board Crew”, well known by the older club members.

Great Race Results for Rangatira
Rangatira teams have brought home a whopping six trophies in two interclub races, Christiania Derby and the Haensli Cup, including two first place finishes.
Charles Dempsey also scored a very credible fourth place in the snowboarding at the Jagermeifter Masters.

Club Member Passes Away
Tone Coyte, a former club member whom many longer serving members will know, has passed away after a short illness.
The committee would like to extend its condolences to Tone’s family on behalf of the club.
A funeral will be held on Friday.
