Final Summer Work Parties – 17/18 May 2014

The final work parties before the lodges can open for winter are planned for the weekend of 17/18 May (arriving on Friday 16 May). There is a list of jobs to be completed at both lodges in order to get everything ready for the season. The key jobs include:

  • Iwikau – hanging the new blinds, repairing the ladies toilets, reassembling the upholstered chairs, cleaning windows and a final tidy up.
  • Turoa – stacking firewood, cleaning out gutters, cleaning windows, some gardening and a general spring (autumn) clean.

We are a voluntary club and getting involved is what it’s all about. It’s also a great way to understand how the lodges operate.

If you haven’t already ‘volunteered’ your services please get in touch with Craig Milbank (by email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) who will also co-ordinate car pooling if you need a lift to the mountain. Meals are provided as well as a vehicle allowance (with a minimum of 2 people in a car).

Race Training at Snowplanet, Silverdale, Auckland

If you’d like to give interclub racing a go, this is a great place to gain some basic gate skills and boost your confidence. Anyone who is a Rangatira member can take part; the courses certainly allow for beginners. The sessions are also a great way for more experienced racers to get in some pre-season practice.

Sessions are aimed at intermediate level skiers or above and the focus is on gate technique with a ski coach. Training sessions are available over 8 weeks on Mondays from 7.45pm to 9.30pm. You can sign up for as many or as little weeks as you would like.

2014 Committee
