Racing
Rangatira has a long tradition of competing in interclub race events held at Mt Ruapehu. We have several trophies on display at the Iwikau lodge.
Although many members would agree that the attitude that “just competing is winning” is pretty lame, when it comes to interclub racing it is true. This is because it fosters a sense of club spirit and is a heck of a lot of fun. We always try to have at least one competitive team, however, there is plenty of room for every one to have a go and many members enjoy the thrill of their first ever race in this friendly environment. The after race parties are often the highlight of the weekend, even when bad weather cancels or postpones the actual race.
All members are encouraged to enter in the spirit of fun. Don’t be shy, a lot of people are nervous but when they have a go they find out that it’s really nothing to be afraid of and it’s very rewarding to have a go.
