Scholarship

All junior and youth members aged 12 to 16 are eligible to attend Club scholarship. The only requirement is that each scholar is accompanied at the mountain by at least one parent or guardian.

Scholarship involves the second week in the July school holidays. Saturday & Sunday are a compulsory ‘team bonding’ weekend followed by five days of the holiday week which are spent with a RAL ski instructor.  You must be able to attend all seven days, Friday 10th July through to Friday 17th of July at Iwikau.
The club pays for the ski instructor from on Monday through to Friday and all Scholars receive free accommodation for the nights of Sunday through to Thursday.  You are responsible for you own lift pass and ski gear, and helmets are compulsory.

Several Scholars in recent years have gone on to join one of the Whakapapa or Turoa junior development or race teams. Most of the club’s best skiers started out in Scholarship. It’s great fun and really improves your skiing a lot!
