Summer Activities

The Ohakune lodge has always been available for year round use by members and their guests. It’s a great base for exploring the Tongariro National Park and surrounds.  The internationally renowned Tongariro Crossing is within easy reach and can be completed as a day trip.

In order to promote the use of the lodge over the summer the Committee has enlisted the help of Mary-Rose Moses and Pauline Larkin to identify events and activities that may be of interest to members.

Three five-day events are planned.  These activities should be great fun for the whole family.

1. Friday, December 28th to Tuesday, January 1st.  Theme: New Years Eve Madness

2. Thursday, January 3rd to Monday, 14th January.  Theme: Murder Mystery Weekend

3. Thursday January 10th to Monday, January 14th.  Theme: Last of the Summer Wine (wine tasting and general summer goodness)

Of course you don’t have to come on organised trips; members and guests are welcome at any time, subject to space being available.

Large Groups. Do you have a requirement to accommodate a large group, or know someone who does? The entire lodge can be booked by suitable groups. Fees and catering arrangements by negotiation.

Adrift Guided Tours offer a range of activities both on and off the water (the Wanganui River).  See their website for full details: www.adriftnz.co.nz

The Department of Conservation runs a summer programme of activities which includes something for most people.  See their website for details: www.doc.govt.nz
