About Our Club

Rangatira is a great mountain club with warm comfortable accommodation on Mt Ruapehu, New Zealand.  There are two lodges, one at Iwikau Village (Whakapapa ski field), at an altitude of approximately 1600 metres, and the other at Ohakune, at the foot of Turoa ski field.

The first public meeting was held in December 1958 and the club was incorporated in 1959. Today the club has approximately 500 voting members from all walks of life.  The emphasis is on skiing and snowboarding but the club is available for all mountain activities, with the lodge at Ohakune making a great base for tramping, mountain biking and a myriad of other activities available year round in Tongariro national park.

Adult members rates are only $38 per night, including hot meals.  Full membership is open to suitable applicants for a very reasonable fee. There are discounted rates for midweek membership if you don’t ski on weekends and in the school holidays.
