Membership
Rangatira has a stable membership of approximately 700 voting members. The club is not throwing its doors open but there are (sometimes) a few spots for new members each year. As lifestyles and circumstances change some people drift away from skiing and sometimes resign their membership. This allows room for new members to add to the wonderful social fabric of the club with their different backgrounds, skills and their enthusiasm.
There are many choices of accommodation available today but most people who experience the atmosphere and friendship of a good club like Rangatira rate it as the best way to enjoy the sport of skiing or snow boarding. Once you are a member you have access to a lifetime of friendships and excellent, low-cost accommodation at Turoa and Whakapapa.
Bringing children to the club over the years is a wonderful gift as they learn and grow in a totally different environment; making friends outside of school and finding out that you really can go a whole week in the school holidays with no TV and not miss it at all.
Membership of the club also brings opportunities for fun club racing events for the young and not-so-young as well as training scholarships for children and support for serious junior racers.

Joining Rangatira Alpine Sports Club
Any prospective members need to be nominated by current members, so this is an ideal opportunity for members to invite any friends who are keen skiers or boarders. All new members (over the age of 18 years) must complete two work parties which are held over the summer months. These can be carried out either in the year of joining or over two consecutive years. This ensures all new members understand how the lodges operate and in particular the unique safety requirements of living in alpine conditions.
Full Membership - Open
Full membership is currently open (but limited so first in first served). Each year, as lifestyles and circumstances change, some people choose to resign their membership; this typically occurs in March when the annual subscriptions are posted.
Midweek Membership - Open
Midweek membership is open and is great for people who are able to ski during off peak times. Not only are the joining fees, annual subscriptions and nightly tariffs lower, but the slopes are less crowded too.
Midweek members can stay at the club at discounted rates from Sunday night through to Thursday night, excluding school holidays. Midweek members can also book in for weekends and school holidays, space permitting, but must pay guest rates.
