Help Requested

The Club has a couple of requests for assistance from members.  If you are able to assist with either of them please email John McCurran at johnmccn@ihug.co.nz , DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL.

  • The Rangatira sign at the entrance to the Turoa lodge needs some TLC.  Is there a member who would like to do a new sign, possibly just a name plate and someone who is interested in touching up the old sign so we can relocate it inside to preserve it?

  • We still require the pavers to be taken to the Turoa lodge.  Please advise if you are able to supply and / or tow a trailer load down with you on one of your trips.  We also require volunteers to help load. There are about 4 x 1T loads. Reimbursement of some expenses will be made.

Rangatira Membership – Limited Availability

The Club currently has a small number of vacancies for new members to join this year.  Each year, as lifestyles and circumstances change, some people choose to resign their membership.  Any prospective members need to be nominated by current members, so this is an ideal opportunity to invite any friends who are keen skiers or boarders.

While weekend bookings at Iwikau are limited, there is still availability at Turoa for the 2008 season.  Available bunks are listed by date on the homepage of the Club website.

Mid-week Membership

Mid-week membership is open and is great for people who are able to ski during off peak times. Not only are the joining fees, annual subscriptions and nightly tariffs lower, but the slopes are less crowded too.

Mid-week members can stay at the Club at discount rates from Sunday night through to Thursday night, excluding school holidays. Mid-week members can also book in for weekends and school holidays, space permitting, but must pay guest rates.

For an application form please email – r.a.s.c@xtra.co.nz, go to the Club website www.rangatiraskiclub.co.nz  or contact:

Noel Price, Lodge Captain at Iwikau – 09 537 6563
Jan Baker, Lodge Captain at Turoa – 09 3615676
Linda Baker, Booking Officer, Rangatira Alpine Sports Club – 09 629 4727

Website – Lodge Vacancies

You may have noticed that there is now a listing of bunk availability on the Club website. The next seven days are shown on the home page and you can click through to the Vacancies page where you can see the rest of the season.

The list is updated weekly so please contact the Booking Officer before making any firm plans as the actual vacancies be more or less than shown.

Ski Patrol

Ruapehu Ski Patrol is holding a ski test for those wanting to get into patrol and a 2 day explosives for snow blasting course back to back later this month.

If you are keen, or no anybody else who might be, please book on www.peaksafety.co.nz. At this stage no more of these courses are planned this year.
